Indiana Jones 4 -- Trailer ReviewHarrison Ford stars with Shia LaBeouf in Indiana Jones 4
The recently released first trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull gets welcome reviews from the fan community, promising another fine movie
That's a relief. Despite some doubts among the sourpusses of the Internet, the trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull turned out to be exciting, fast-paced and full of promise. Revealed by Paramount Pictures on Feb. 14, the trailer focuses mostly on what appears to be a key battle scene in a U.S. government warehouse that's reminiscent of the anonymous storage facility where the government locked away the Ark of the Covenant in the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark. After Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is roughed up by some U.S. soldiers -- or are they Russians in clever disguise? -- cinema goers get their first new look at the archeology professor cum adventurer as he retrieves his fedora from the ground, putting it back on as John Williams' famous Indiana Jones theme kicks in. Indiana Jones 4 Trailer Promises Plenty Of ActionStanding next to his new sidekick, double-crossing treasure hunter Mac (Ray Winstone), Indiana appears vastly outnumbered as Mac says, “This ain't going to be easy.” In a nod to the fact it's been 19 years since the last Indiana Jones movie -- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade -- Indiana wryly replies, “Not as easy as it used to be” before the trailer instantly shifts into high gear. Director Steven Spielberg offers a tantalizing look at some of the set pieces audiences can expect when the fourth movie gets its international release on May 22. The action starts with a quite literally explosive car chase in the aforementioned warehouse, where Indiana appears to be battling dastardly Russian Agent Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett). Indiana cracks his iconic whip as he battles his way through the massive building, with gunfire aplenty and somewhat cheesy quips, completely in keeping with the spirit of the first three movies. Harrison Ford Returns To The Indiana Jones Role With EaseFrom there the trailer quickly leaps forward to South America, where the second-half of the movie takes place. This begins a frantic series of clips from what could be one of the most action-packed Indiana Jones movies to date. The trailer shows everything from car chases on a cliff top to what looks like hundreds of South American native warriors racing after Jones and his cohorts, and from violent fist fights with Russian soldiers to a race through a booby-trapped ancient temple. Judging by the trailer alone, the movie appears to have everything right in terms of pacing, tone, action, humor and suspense that fans of the adventure series have been waiting to see for almost two decades. Despite knocks in the media about his age, Ford also seems to step back into the Indiana Jones role with ease. He quickly recreates the character that's a mix of cocky swagger and disbelief at getting himself into another situation that may just be too much to handle. Although it's less than two full minutes in length, the first trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is absolutely perfect in one regard: it leaves audiences wanting more, and wishing that the movie's release date was that much closer.
